CANDLER PARK, GAINESVILLE, GA 30501
Where to retire is one of the biggest decisions to be made when entering the thrilling world of retirement life. Communities for 55+ residents (often referred to as "active adult communities") are springing up all over the USA, and Gainesville, GA, located near Lake Lanier in Hall County, GA, is no exception.
Retirement communities in Gainesville, GA, have proven to be very popular for several reasons. Gainesville's proximity to metro Atlanta, where sports, culture, shopping, and the world's busiest airport are within an easy drive, is appealing. Inside the City of Gainesville itself is the award-winning Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Brenau University, Quinlan Art Museum, Byrd Center for the Performing Arts, and the Northeast Georgia History Center, to name just a few local amenities. Activities such as golf, tennis, shopping, boating on Lake Lanier, touring botanical gardens, and hiking are also found in Gainesville/Hall County. What's more, the cost of living is very reasonable; and low taxes for seniors are appealing.

Gainesville is a really nice area. I hope to buy a home eventually but I am not sure if I will stay in Hall county since my son goes to school in Gwinnett.
